Mahindra has introduced a new base variant to the XUV500 line-up.
Mahindra has launched a new entry level trim of the XUV500. It is called the W3 variant and is priced at Rs. 12.23 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Earlier the XUV500 line-up consisted of the W5, W 7, W9, W11 variants where the W5 trim was the lowest priced model costing Rs. 12.80 lakhs. With the launch of the W3 base variant the XUV500 now falls in the price bracket of the Maruti Ertiga ZDi, Maruti Vitara Brezza Zdi+, Nissan Kicks, Hyundai Creta and the Nexon diesel XZ+.
The Mahindra XUV500 W3 variant is a bare bones model and misses out on a lot of equipment like fog lamps, audio system, LED DRLs, alloy wheels black cladding and dual tone interiors.
Speaking about the new W3 variant of the Plush New XUV500, Veejay Ram Nakra, Chief of Sales and Marketing, Automotive Division, Mahindra & Mahindra Ltd. said, The XUV500 pioneered the creation of the premium SUV segment and set new benchmarks with its head-turning design, and unmatched package of hi-tech features and thrilling performance. Today the launch of the W3 version makes the vehicle much moreaccessible to a wider range of customers. With its excellent value proposition, I am confident that this new variant will resonate with a whole new set of our customers.
Key features include engine start-stop, electrically adjustable ORVMs, disc brakes, power windows, projector headlights, central locking, and electrically operated dual HVAC. On the safety front it is equipped with ABS with EBD, dual front airbags as standard equipment. The interiors miss out on leather upholstery and the seats are wrapped in plain black fabric material. The cabin also does not feature soft-touch materials.
Mechanically there is no change and the XUV500 W3 trim gets its juice from a 2.2 litre m-Hawk oil burner which generates 155 BHP of power and 360 Nm of twisting force. Power is transmitted to the front wheels via a 6-speed manual gearbox.
