2020 Hyundai Creta

2020 Hyundai Creta is the best-selling car in the Indian mid-size SUV segment which was introduced in February 2020. The company has recently declared that the 2020 Creta model has reached homes of over 1.21 lakh customers in India since its launch.

Over 51% has been contributed by the SX and the SX (O) variants of Creta as per Hyundai which implies that over 1.2 lakh sold SUVs belong to the top-spec trims of the Creta. 60% of total sales belong to the 1.5-litre diesel variant as a result of its 72,000 units of diesel variant sale. It reveals how the diesel powertrain demands are still there even after the strict BS6 emission norms.

The company is moving to the demand for automatic variants over Creta’s manual trims. According to the company, over 20% of all SUVs sold are equipped with automatic transmission options.

The Hyundai Creta is arguably the best-selling SUV model, having over 5.8 lakh unit sales of the Creta since its first launch in back in the year 2015. Hyundai has also exported over 2.16 Creta SUVs under the ‘Make in India’ initiative.

The Hyundai Creta comes with a host of engine and powertrain options. It comes paired with a standard 6-speed manual gearbox with an optional automatic transmission. The model features petrol and diesel engines of 1.5-litre capacity as well as a T-GDI turbo-petrol unit which has 1.4-litre capacity. The 1.5-litre diesel engine is mated to a torque converter unit while a seven-speed DSG gearbox is coupled with the 1.4-litre turbo petrol engine.

The Hyundai Creta SUV has an impressive appeal in the Indian mid-size SUV segment due to the demand for diesel and turbo-petrol engines. It competes against the likes of the Kia Seltos, the Tata Harrier, the MG Hector and the Jeep Compass in the domestic market.
