The 2020 Mahindra Thar will get a price hike, with effect from December 1, 2020. The price hike was expected as the Indian SUV maker will be ending the Thar`s introductory pricing.
The all-new Thar has received a tremendous response in the Indian market and the waiting period for some variants has gone up to 7 months. All customers who book the Thar before December 1 can avail the launch pricing.
Prices for the new Thar’s higher-spec LX trim range starts from Rs 12.49 to 13.75 lakh. Mahindra recently removed some of the entry level AX variants. The cheapest Thar trim available is the AX optional petrol-manual, priced at Rs 11.90 lakh.
The Automaker is yet to officially announce the new prices for the Thar on December 1 i.e. tomorrow. This will give us a clear idea by how much the prices have gone up by. The price hike will be applicable to customers who book the Thar after December 1, 2020..
The SUV has received 20,000 bookings within a month of its launch. This shows the high demand for the product. Due to the high demand Mahindra has stated that it will increase the Thar`s production capacity from 2,000 units to 3,000 units a month. It aims to achieve this target by Jan 2021.
The 2020 Mahindra Thar is available with both petrol and diesel engine options, The petrol motor is a 2.0 litre unit producing 152 HP of power and 300 Nm of torque with the manual transmission and 320 Nm with the automatic transmission.
The diesel engine is a 2.2 litre turbocharged unit developing 132 HP of power and 300 Nm of torque.Transmission options include a 6-speed MT and 6-speed automatic gearbox.Moreover, the Thar comes with 4X4 as standard and a manual-shift transfer case.
The Mahindra Thar rivals the likes of the Force Gurkha.
