The first car in our list of cars in India with best mileage is the popular Honda Jazz. The premium hatchback from the Honda stable is powered by two engine options. A 1.2 litre i-VTEC petrol motor which develops 89 bhp , 1.5 litre i-DTEC diesel engine which produces 99 bhp. The petrol motor has an ARAI rated mileage of 18.2 kmpl while the diesel delivers 27.3 kmpl.
Hyundai Grand i10 Nios
The recently launched Grand i10 Nios makes it to our list of most fuel efficient cars. It is based on a completely new platform and is much bigger and better looking that the old generation model. The swift competitor comes with 2 engine options – a 1.2 litre petrol and 1.2 litre oil burner. The petrol engine delivers a fuel economy of 20.7 kmpl while the diesel unit offers 26.2 kmpl
The Honda City`s popularity has increased with the inclusion of a diesel engine. The C-segment sedan is available with two engine options namely – 1.5 litre i-VTEC petrol and 1.5 litre i-DTEC diesel. The former has a claimed fuel economy of 17.4 kmpl, the diesel returns 25.6 kmpl respectively.
Honda`s rugged version of the Jazz hatchback, the WR-V is currently the most fuel efficient compact SUV in India. The Japanese crossover is available with a petrol and diesel engine. The petrol unit is a 1.2 litre motor which delivers a fuel economy figure of 17.5 kmpl. The 1.5 litre diesel on the other hand offers a mileage of 25.5 kmpl.
The Aura is the updated version of the Hyundai Xcent in the domestic market. In the sub-4 meter category it is one of the most fuel efficient cars in India. Available with two engine options, the Aura petrol has an ARAI certified mileage of 20.5 kmpl and the Aura diesel delivers 25 kmpl.
The Altroz is the new kid on the block in the premium hatchback segment. It is underpinned by Tata`s new ALFA modular platform. The new hatchback is powered by a petrol and diesel engine mated to a manual gearbox. The 1.2 L petrol produces 86 bhp and the 1.5 L diesel delivers 89 bhp. Mileage figures for the petrol and diesel are pegged at 19 kmpl and 25 kmpl respectively. Apart from its impressive mileage, the eye catchy Tata Altroz colours are another talking point of this premium hatchback.
India`s top selling premium hatchback is available with a 1.2 litre K-series petrol motor and a 1.2 litre DualJet with mild-hybrid technology. ARAI certified mileage figures for the K-series is 21 kmpl while the DualJet offers 23.87 kmpl. The Baleno is one of the most fuel efficient petrol cars in India.
The Tata Tiago is available with a single petrol engine (1.2 litre Revotron) which returns an impressive 23.84 kmpl .
The Hyundai Venue is the latest entrant in the sub compact SUV space. The Venue is available with three engine options and is one of the most fuel efficient SUVs available in our market. The petrol variant returns a mileage of 18.27 kmpl, while the diesel delivers 23 kmpl.
The Amaze is Honda`s first sub-4 meter sedan for the Indian market. The Japanese carmaker has recently upgraded the Amaze to meet BS6 emission norms. It is available with petrol and diesel engine options, a 1.3 litre petrol and 1.5 litre diesel. The Amaze petrol manual & CVT fuel economy figures are pegged at 18.6 kmpl and 18.3 kmpl respectively. The diesel Amaze MT has a claimed mileage figure of 24.7 kmpl while the Diesel CVT returns 21 kmpl.
