Hero Splendor has always been the best-selling motorcycle in the Indian market. However, since the past few months, the Hero Splendor Plus has even managed to outsell the Honda Activa 6G to become the best-selling two-wheeler in the country. The Hero Splendor (Hero Honda Splendor, back then) was first launched in India in the year 1994 and it got its first major update in the year 2004 followed by another update in 2011. In 2020, this motorcycle was updated once again to meet the BS6 emission norms but over the years not much has changed in it. Hero Splendor BS6 Review

Looks, Design and Colour Variants

Hero Splendor Plus BS6 is an entry-level commuter motorcycle and so there are no fancy design elements. However, it does its job really well and appeals to the masses. The Splendor Plus BS6 gets a rectangular-shaped halogen headlamp with rectangular-shaped halogen turn indicators. The motorcycle gets a small visor too and it has a neat side profile. It is available in multiple colour shades and most of the colour trims of the Splendor Plus get new attractive triple-tone graphics on the body panels. It also gets a long flat seat and a metal carrier at the rear. The new Hero Splendor Plus BS6 is available in nine colour variants. They are – Matte Shield Gold, Black With Sports Red, Heavy Grey With Green, Black With Purple, Black With Silver, Firefly Golden, Beetle Red, Bumble Bee Yellow and the new 100 Million Edition.

Engine, Transmission and Mileage

The new Hero Splendor Plus BS6 draws power from a BS6 compliant 97.2cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine with new programmed electronic fuel injection with advanced sensor technology. This BS6 motor churns out 8.02 PS of power at 8000 RPM and 8.05 Nm of torque at 6000 RPM. The engine is paired with a 4-speed manual gearbox and it gets Hero MotoCorp’s patented i3S or idle stop/start system too which helps in improving the fuel economy of the motorcycle. The Hero Splendor Plus BS6 delivers excellent fuel economy too. It delivers around 60-70 kmpl of mileage in real-world riding conditions.

Suspension, Wheels, Brakes and Features

The Hero Splendor Plus BS6 gets telescopic forks at the front and dual spring-loaded shock absorbers at the rear. The braking duties on the motorcycle are performed by 130 mm drum brakes at either end and it also gets Hero’s patented IBS or Integrated Braking System. The Splendor Plus rides on 80/100-section 18-inch tyres and these tyres are tubeless units. In terms of features, the Hero Splendor Plus only gets an analogue instrument cluster with basic trip-related info.

The Hero Splendor Plus BS6 is available in multiple variants. The motorcycle is currently priced between Rs 63,750 – Rs 69,060. All the prices mentioned here belong to Ex-showroom Delhi.
