Decent Engine with both MT and AMT – The new Tata Punch draws power from a BS6 compliant 1.2-litre NA petrol engine that also powers the Tiago, Altroz and the Tigor. This updated new BS6 motor churns out 86 PS of maximum power and 113 Nm of peak torque. The engine comes paired to a 5-speed manual gearbox and a 5-speed AMT. It is a decent powertrain for the price.

Feature-rich Small SUV – The new Tata Punch is a small car but it is quite feature-rich. The Tata Punch features a semi-digital instrument cluster, a 7.0-inch floating touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity, etc. The safety features of this sub-compact SUV will include ABS with EBD, dual front airbags, seat belt reminders, a high-speed alert system, reverse parking sensors with a camera, etc.

More Powerful Engines with MT and AMT – The Tata Nexon draws power from a BS6 compliant 1.2-litre turbo petrol engine that pumps out 120 PS of power and 170 Nm of peak torque. It also gets a BS6 compliant 1.5-litre diesel engine that pumps out 110 PS of power and 260 Nm of torque. It gets much more powerful engines than the Tata Punch. Also, the engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox as well as a 6-speed AMT. Moreover, the Nexon diesel is one of the most fuel-efficient cars in India.

More Feature-loaded than Tata Punch – The Tata Nexon is a bigger car and though it is quite old than the Punch, it is still a very feature-loaded SUV. The Nexon gets a 7.0-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple Car connectivity. It also gets iRA connected car technology, 8-speakers Harman-Kardon sound system, a digital instrument cluster, etc. Also, the safety features include dual front airbags, ABS with EBD, Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Roll-over Mitigation, Electronic Traction Control, reverse parking sensors with a rear-parking camera. The Nexon also gets an electric sunroof which the Nexon misses out.

Available at an attractive price point – The Tata Nexon might not be as cheaper as the Tata Punch. But, it is available at a decent price point and is one of the most value for money compact SUVs in its segment. This answer cannot be given in a single Yes or No word. In some segments, the Tata Punch is better than the Tata Nexon while in many others, the Nexon outperforms the Punch by a big margin. However, at the end of the day, everything comes down to price. If you have the budget, the Tata Nexon is still a great choice, but if you are tight on budget, the Tata Punch is a perfect buying option for you.
