The much-awaited Mahindra Marazzo automatic variant is expected to hit the Indian market in the coming weeks. The Maruti Suzuki’s Ertiga and the premium Toyota Innova Crysta currently have the MPV placed between them. It will have a 6-speed AMT mated automatic gearbox with a 1.5-litre diesel engine.
Although it was speculated to get the torque converter unit from the Thar, Mahindra opted for an AMT gearbox option along with enhanced fuel efficiency figures to make it cost-effective.
Mahindra Marazzo diesel-automatic version is speculated to be available in three trim options: M2, M4+ and M6+. Currently, BS-6 compliant 1.5-litre diesel engine powers the Mahindra Marazzo MPV and produces a maximum of 121bhp with a 300Nm peak torque.
The Marazzo MPV has exclusive features like LED headlamps with integrated LED DRLs, LED taillights, front and rear fog lamps, shark fin antenna, diamond-cut alloy wheels of 17-inch size and a rear-view parking camera with adaptive guidelines.
The Mahindra Marazzo gets Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, automatic climate control, rear AC vents, follow-me-home headlamps, cruise control, ABS with EBD, traction control- all supported by a seven-inch infotainment system. Not only this, but the MPV will get an all-new 1.5-litre turbo-petrol engine update besides the current diesel engine. It is expected to produce 162 bhp and a torque of about 280 Nm. The company is yet to provide an official launch date for the turbo-petrol engine that can come with both manual and automatic transmission options. It is derived from the SsangYong Korando and it will make its debut on the Marrazzo MPV.
The Global NCAP has also awarded Mahindra Marazzo with a 4-star safety rating. Mahindra is likely to increase its MPV sales in the Indian market with the new automatic variant of the Marazzo due to the rising demand for vehicles with automatic transmission options.
