Royal Enfield launched the 650 twins, the Interceptor and Continental GT, a few months back. The two bikes instantly received high customer interest, thanks to their aggressive price tag and the cult following that the RE brand enjoys in India. Despite a few months being elapsed since their official launch, the RE650 twins are still high in demand, with waiting period for both these bikes soaring to 6 months in various cities. To cater to such a high demand, Royal Enfield is planning to double the production of the Interceptor 650
and Continental GT 650
It is worth noting that after the official launch, only 500 units of the 650 twins were delivered in the first month. However, the limited supply was aimed to fulfill the test ride and display model requirements of Royal Enfield dealerships across the country. However, the real demand is way over this initial sales figure. Siddhartha Lal, MD of Royal Enfield, claimed that production will be increased from the current level of 2,500 units per month to 4,000 – 5,000 units per month to address the rising demand.
It is important to note that the Royal Enfield Interceptor 650 and Continental GT 650 are also attracting high demand from international markets, including Europe, USA, Indonesia, Thailand and Brazil. This too has been a factor in the increasing waiting period as most of these markets are served from Royal Enfield’s Indian production plants.
