Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited (SMIPL) has sold a record high of 77,849 units in April 2021. Due to the COVID lockdown, the sales in April 2020 were zero, but it has registered an overall increase of 18% in April 2021. Suzuki has sold 63,879 two-wheelers in the domestic market, while it has sold 13,790 two-wheelers in the export markets.
The number of sales in April 2021 recorded an overall 11.3% month-on-month growth due to a total sale of 69,942 units in March 2021. Suzuki’s previous highest-ever monthly sales number was 76,865 units which were registered in October 2020.
Koichiro Hirao, Managing Director, Suzuki Motorcycle India Pvt Ltd. said, “It is very satisfying that despite all the challenges associated with the second surge of COVID-19 pandemic in the month of April, we have posted 12% growth in domestic and an exceptional 57.5% growth in our exports volumes vis-a-vis same month in 2019. The first month of the new Financial Year was also of very special significance for Suzuki Motorcycle India as we launched the much-awaited, third-generation version of our flagship Sports Bike, The All New Hayabusa. It gives me immense pleasure to share with you that our first batch of 101 units was booked within 2 days of the bookings getting opened.”

During the 2020-21 financial year, Suzuki Motorcycle India witnessed a 25.35% decline in the 2020-21 financial year as it sold just 589,997 units compared to 7,47,506 units cumulatively sold in the 2019-20 financial year. Although Suzuki Motorcycle India Private Limited doesn’t publish the sales number of individual scooters or motorcycles, its scooter sales are more than that of motorcycles. The best-selling scooter of the company is the Suzuki Access 125. It also sells a range of scooters and small displacement motorcycles, including the popular models of Suzuki Gixxer.
