We`ve all been hearing about the Tata Gravitas SUV for some time now. Now we finally have a date when the production-spec model will be revealed to the public. The SUV will be unveiled on January 26, 2021.
The Gravitas and the Tata Harrier share the same Omega platform. To fit in the third row what Tata engineer`s have basically done is added 63mm and 80mm to the Harrier`s length and height respectively. On tape the Gravitas SUV will measure 4,661 mm in length, 1,894 mm wide and 1,786 mm tall. It will have a wheelbase of 2,741mm.
Design wise the front end of the Gravitas will look similar to the Harrier, but the major changes will be at the rear. The larger rear overhang, stepped roof, and additional color options will give the Gravitas a distinct look. It will also feature a new alloy wheel design to give it its own identity,
The upcoming Tata Gravitas will feature the same mechanicals that power the Harrier. Powering the Gravitas is the familiar 2.0 liter turbo diesel engine mated to a 6-pseed manual and 6-speed torque convertor unit. This engine also powers the Harrier. Apart from these similarities the feature list and interiors are also expected to be identical.
The new Gravitas SUV will command a premium over the Harrier which currently retails between INR 13.84 lakh to INR 20.30 lakh. Once launched it will rival the likes of the MG Hector Plus, Mahindra XUV500, and the upcoming seven seater Hyundai Creta.
