India Yamaha Motor (IYM) has finally launched the new fourth iteration of its flagship 155cc supersport motorcycle in the Indian market. The new Yamaha YZF-R15 Version 4.0 has been launched in India and what’s even more desirable is that the company has launched the new YZF-R15 M version too. The all-new 2021 Yamaha YZF-R15 range is powered by a BS6 compliant 155cc, single-cylinder, 4-stroke, liquid-cooled, SOHC, 4-valve engine. This engine pumps out a maximum power output of 18.4 PS at 10,000 RPM, with a peak torque output of 14.2 Nm at 7,500 RPM. This fuel-injected motor also gets the company’s Variable Valve Actuation (VVA) technology and the engine is matched to a 6-speed manual gearbox. The new Yamaha R15 V4.0 and the all-new R15 M BS6 gets a host of class-leading features.
In terms of design, the new 2021 Yamaha YZF-R15 range adopts predominantly horizontal design lines like the litre-class YZF-R1, which inherits the DNA of Yamaha’s flagship R-Series. The new R15 V 4.0 looks very sporty and to give it an imposing aura, the new YZF-R15 uses a single bi‐functional projector LED headlight that also emphasizes the presence of the M-shaped intake duct. There are LED DRLs too. The new Yamaha R15 V 4.0 also gets revised chassis. This new structure of the motorcycle offers more stability under braking, with improved comfort and cornering performance.
The new Yamaha R15 V 4.0 gets USD or upside-down forks at the front along with a mono-shocker at the rear. The motorcycle gets disc brakes on both ends with dual-channel ABS. The new Yamaha R15 V 4.0 is also the first small-displacement Yamaha motorcycle with manual transmission to feature Traction Control System. It controls the ignition timing and fuel injection volume to instantly adjust engine power output to avoid excessive slippage. The R15 V 4.0 is also the first Yamaha single-cylinder motorcycle to feature a quick-shifter (standard on the YZF-R15 V4 Racing Blue and YZF-R15M), for smooth, clutchless, upshifts. It gets a new digital instrument cluster too with a gear shift indicator, and Track and Street display modes.
The new Yamaha R15 V 4.0 will be available across all company dealerships in India by end of September 2021. The price of the new Yamaha R15 V 4.0 starts at Rs. 167,800 (Ex-Showroom, Delhi). The online bookings for this model range is now open across the country. The new Yamaha R15 V 4.0 comes in 3 colour variants. They are – Racing Blue, Dark Knight, and Metallic Red.
